Parallel Shores

You and I have walked parallel shores
Our distance started as wide as an ocean
With each step, we get closer
I have thought of you but have denied your presence
But you still have crept into my life but not for me
Only for others that have walked before me
My shoulders have carried the burdens of my angels
Over time they have fallen off and the weight has lifted with each fall
Making my walk easier
Your shore has called to me and the waters have lured
For once I step into the waters there can be no more
I leave all that is known behind to face the abyss
Many days, I am tempted yet fearful of both shores
I wonder what your shore looks like.
Will the walk be easier on that side?
I like my side better
The ocean has narrowed to a river and now the day is here
The river is dry
We are no longer separated
Now is the day we walk hand and hand through eternity
